POMELO FRUIT SALAD WITH DETOX WATER by @charissa_and_co_wellness

Pomelo is considered a citrus fruit and it is closely related to grapefruits and other members of the Citrus genus.

Pomelo is primarily found in Southeast Asia, which is its native region. Malaysian region you will find the Pomelo more of a yellowish tone in colour with a slight drier texture. Where in Vietnam/Thailand region, you will find the Pomelo of a slight pinkish orange colour and these one's are slightly more juicy.

This delicious combination of guava, pomelo, white dragonfruit and passionfruit complement each other deliciously. All from the sub-acidic to acidic fruit group, allows for easy digestion, I tend to sprinkle all the passionfruit pulp onto my fruit before eating.

Pomelo high in ascorbic acid, therefore resulting to boost the immune system due to the Vit C present within the fruit, fighting off any bacteria or infections.

Combining the pomelo with the other fibrous fruit as indicated above, allows for ease on digestion. Therefore ideal if you are constipated. Always make sure your fruits are ripe and not under ripe, under ripe fruit does not allow easy digestion and has a tendency to cause bloatedness or gass in some people.

As pomelo is low in calories and fibrous, it allows you to feel fuller for longer, in result aiding to weight-loss.

With pomelo and most fruits and vegetables, the antioxidants found in pomelo, allows the body to fight off free radical damage and promotes the growth of antibodies and immune cells. This stops bacteria formation and thereby prevents cancerous growths.

As we don't recommend having a lot of liquid whilst eating your meals, due to the liquids diluting the stomach acids, therefore not allowing for the foods to be digested to its final stage instead causing fermentation in the gut region.

Therefore having majority of the detox water about 20min - 30min before you eat, only having a few sips in between if needed, alternative is to enjoy the detox water whilst you are active as it is a delicious refreshing way to stay hydrated.

Detox water infused with strawberries, is unbelievably easy it is to prepare. And the ingredients list just sends your tastebuds into refreshment mode, sliced strawberries, orange wedges, mint and a few other delicious ingredients in water. That’s it! Let it sit in the refrigerator for an hour (or less if you prefer), and you’re good to go.

I used a 1.5 liter Ball jar to store this delicious refreshing beverage in the fridge.



  • 6 large strawberries sliced

  • 7 mint leaves hand torn so the juices can infuse the water

  • 1/2 orange sliced into thin wedges

  • 2 tbsp of goji berries

  • 1.5 liters water


Cut all the fruit apart from goji berries, make sure all fruit is well rinsed.

Place all the ingredients into your mason jar, then fill with your filtered water, close your jar tight and leave in the fridge for an hour, all the delicious juices will infuse the water.
