ALMOND FIG SQUARES

These grain-free paleo almond squares are simply so easy to make plus it can serve as a breakfast or post-workout bite.


Within these squares I added some additional protein to the mix. Using Nuzest Clean Lean Vanilla protein. The vanilla flavour works really well with the overall mix and it also gives us that added much needed protein, especially #postworkout.


The level and type of workout you do, in result affects the type of foods to eat after a workout. As our bodies naturally use up our glycogen stores when we work out, the level and the type of activity will affect the level of macro’s we add to our post workout meal.


As these baked almond fig bars are more towards the paleo lifestyle, it is slightly lower in carbohydrates, therefore more suited to someone lifting weights to maintain vs someone who did a high intense cardio session.


These baked squares are high in protein for the reason to add back to the body.


Consuming enough protein after a workout gives your body the amino acids it needs to repair and rebuild protein. It also gives you the building blocks required to build new muscle tissue. Yield 9-12 Squares Ingredients:

2.5 Cups almond flour

2 Tsp baking powder

1/4 Tsp Salt

1/2 Cup granulated monk fruit sweetener

3 Large eggs

1/3 Cup melted coconut oil

6 Tbsp nut milk

2 Servings of Nuzest Smooth Vanilla Clean Lean Protein

Method: Pre-heat oven to 180C. Blend all the ingredients tougher, line out your 8 x 8 inch tray and line with non stick baking paper. Pour into your tray and allow to bake for 25min. Allow to cool, cut into squares and decorate.


For the topping, mix 1/3 Cup coconut cream, with 2 Tbsp strawberry clean lean protein from Nuzest with 1 fresh fig, pureed.
