FIND YOUR VEG

STEP away from the belief that veggies are boring. Forget those past episodes where you had some bad overly cooked lumpy vegetables.

Especially when it came to sloppy overly boiled tasteless cabbage.

.

Yes we know, Vegetables are good + healthy, plus being super important.

.

The big BUT is…Everyone’s taste preferences are COMPLETELY different.

.

As we are unique, some of us may be genetically more likely to dislike vegetables.

.

So question, how do we get the benefits of vegetables if we don’t want to eat them?

.

Flavors are so complicated.

.

Some of us also see food choices different to others.

.

Our palates, which is our appreciation for complex combinations of tastes, is determined by three factors.

.

Flavor preferences are actually passed on before birth. Amniotic fluid contains a remarkable array of biological scent molecules, and children get exposed to flavors before they can even eat.

.

You are a super taster, therefore you can taste everything, some foods are more sharp than others. This defines your taste buds + why you might not like certain foods.

.

Our cultural background also plays part.

.

Therefore some people will find most vegetables either bitter, or sharp depending on their pallets, mostly if you are used to processed, packages foods, this can seem like a real challenge.

.

But, don’t let this put you off. You can indeed start anytime by incorporating whole foods to your lifestyle by using these three simple steps:

.

I call it the Triple C.

.

Challenge

Compliment

Cushion

.

Challenge - Find a bitter food, something that requires a special effort, and something that you won’t normally just eat.

.

Compliment - Create a flavour harmony, In this case, it means pairing a food or aromatic with your vegetable to push several taste/flavor buttons at the same time.

.

Cushion - Pairing vegetables that allow you to turn the volume down on some tastes, like lowering the bitterness from some vegetables with the right partner.

.

Each week try a new vegetable, by building it up to an overall everyday weekly rainbow.
